Ricardo celebrates design based AS9100 certification award

Ricardo has achieved a significant milestone, securing AS9100 certification, a key requirement when delivering design-based projects for customers in the aerospace and defence industries.

Ricardo's aerospace work is focused on developing cutting edge technologies for next generation aircraft, with projects that demonstrate new developments in aerospace propulsion to meet current and future legislative requirements.

The scope of the new certification covers engineering design and project management, anything relating to physical products, such as build and test remains under our existing ISO9001 certification.  

Ricardo works in a very significant area, which includes development of new novel technologies from clean sheet design of greener propulsion systems, right through to systems integration of specific technologies for existing and concept aircraft. The sector is highly regulated, with safety a paramount concern.  

AS9100 is the quality standard followed by the aerospace industry, which allows businesses to deliver projects under its standard and gives customers confidence in the work being delivered. It also allows for data and test outputs from key technologies to be used as part of the evidence submitted to authorities to enable next phase development of designs, through to the experimental phases. 

As an internationally recognised standard, the certification covers projects delivered from Ricardo's technical centres in Shoreham, Leamington, Prague and Montreal, in the provision of engineering, programme management and consulting – typically in the design and development of engines, driveline and transmissions, hybrid and electrical systems and software.
