Cliff Walton is an acknowledged international expert in the management of power network assets. Previously Technical and Regulatory Manager for London Power Networks and Head of Strategic Development for EDF Energy Networks. He has extensive experience in engineering, innovation, commercial, financial, business process and technology change activities. He has had a wide range of roles and responsibilities in both power and telecommunications. He is an authority on smart networks, network visibility, asset ageing and condition monitoring in power distribution networks, and has a wide range of research interests in development and deployment of technologies relating to multi vector energy systems, renewable generation, smart networks, sustainability, intelligent network management, online condition monitoring and innovation from concept to Business as Usual.
Cliff leads a range of large projects introducing smart network functionality in the UK under the Low Carbon Networks Funding and other funding mechanisms and provides advice to a wide range of Government, Academic, Manufacturing, Industrial client as well as Network Operators. He was a founding Patron of the Institute of Asset Management, is Past Chair of the IEEE UK & RI Power Engineering Society and sits on a variety of academic, industry and governmental panels. Cliff is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of IET, Senior member of IEEE, member of the Institute of Asset Management, and a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London. He has authored and contributed a large number of reports, papers and conference presentations on wide variety of subjects.
