New acoustic test facility for Ricardo Germany

Ricardo NVH Testcentre RemseckRicardo Germany has announced its new acoustic test centre – located at Remseck near Stuttgart and close to its Schwäbisch Gmünd Technical Centre – providing extensive facilities for both full vehicle and engine acoustic testing, and further realizing Ricardo’s goal of becoming the partner of choice for vehicle and powertrain engineering in Germany.

Whether powered by a conventional internal combustion engine powertrain, full electric drive or hybrid, the acoustic characteristics of vehicles is of enormous importance to customers. Ricardo has been a leader in the field of NVH refinement for many years and has extensive skills, facilities, engineering experience and benchmark data at its international network of technical centres. With the addition of the new test facility announced today, Ricardo will be able to provide a full range of design and analytical NVH services at Schwabisch Gmund, supported by test based development carried out locally at the new Remseck centre.

Key test facilities available at Remseck include a large vehicle semi-anechoic chassis dynamometer test rig with a capacity of 2x350kW, and an engine acoustic test cell for complete drive trains of up to 500kW. In addition, the Remseck centre includes a vehicle workshop and preparation area as well as offices and meeting rooms.
