Ricardo and AFC Energy collaborate on innovative hydrogen power applications.
The partnership will accelerate global efforts to decarbonise energy and infrastructures through the design and delivery of high-quality hydrogen technologies, supporting carbon neutral measures
Ricardo plc and AFC Energy plc, a leading provider of hydrogen power generation technologies, today announced the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at identifying new and innovative alternative fuel solutions.
The agreement will focus on the joint creation of hydrogen fuel cell product and service offerings, with an initial focus on marine, rail and stationary power generation. The collaboration will develop products and services that will directly support global efforts to decarbonise transport, energy and nationally critical infrastructure.
Ricardo has been providing advice to both industry and government clients on hydrogen strategies and technology development for more than 20 years. Combined with AFC Energy’s leading alkaline fuel cell technology platform, ‘H-Power’, the partnership will enable the design and delivery of high-quality and innovative solutions and explore new areas where both companies have a clear route to market.
The two companies have already jointly submitted proposals to energy network operators with a focus on addressing client needs related to strategic grid resilience and zero emission alternative power.
Adam Bond, chief executive officer at AFC Energy, said, “AFC Energy’s proprietary technology has a role to play in both decarbonising global energy production and in increasing the number of industrial applications that use hydrogen as its principal energy source.
“Our collaboration with Ricardo follows a number of months of discussions between both parties and I am confident that the quality and breadth of their work will lead to an enhanced product range and a greater number of end customers in key industrial sectors.”
Mike Bell, Growth Strategy and Transformation Director at Ricardo, added “Our mission is creating a world fit for the future, whether that’s developing clean, efficient products for global transport sectors, supporting national governments with their national climate commitments or supporting the private sector in delivery of robust pathways and solutions to achieve net zero. Ricardo is proud to be working with a range of clients on hydrogen and fuel cell technology, offering solutions that reduce carbon emissions and deliver clean efficient solutions across a wide range of sectors. This collaboration with AFC Energy enables Ricardo to increase the range of hydrogen and fuel cell solutions we can provide to our clients.”
