The new Greaves Power D Series engine was unveiled on Saturday by Greaves group Chairman Karan Thapar, at a ceremony held at Bengaluru, marking the successful conclusion of a collaborative project with Ricardo announced less than two years ago. The new engine has been designed to be capable of meeting international emissions regulations, being fully engineered from the outset for US Tier 3 emissions levels and with clear upgrade path protection for Tier 4 compliance without the need for significant hardware changes.
“On behalf of Ricardo I would like to congratulate Greaves on the launch of its new D Series engine family,” commented Ricardo India president Mayank Agochiya. “The unveiling of this brand new, state-of-the-art engine family marks a very successful milestone in the longstanding relationship of co-operation between Greaves and Ricardo, delivering a new clean and fuel efficient power generation engine for the domestic Indian as well as international markets.”
“Greaves Cotton Ltd and Ricardo both have long histories and a strong heritage of engineering innovation and technology development,” added Prakash Bhalekar, CEO of Greaves Industrial Engines Business, Auxiliary Power Business and Engine Component Technologies. “We are pleased to have been able to continue our longstanding collaboration with the development of the D Series engine family over the past two years. We now look forward to bringing this high quality, low emissions engine to market for the benefit of our customers in India and abroad.”
