Ricardo executive appointed to board of US electric drive industry association

It has been announced today that Thomas Apostolos, president of Ricardo’s North American operations, has been appointed to the board of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), the US industry body that promotes electric drive technologies and infrastructure.

The appointment serves to strengthen the offering to clients of both organizations, by bringing together Ricardo's technology expertise with EDTA's collaborative goal of ensuring economic competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and energy security. "EDTA is a natural fit for Ricardo," said Thomas Apostolos. "Ricardo has been challenging convention in the transportation and energy industries for almost a century, which is exactly what is required to meet EDTA's goals. I look forward to working with EDTA's distinguished board members in this highly dynamic industry."

Ricardo has been the technology lead on several hybrid and hybrid-electric vehicle programmes, and has designed and built several vehicle demonstrators showcasing various EV and HEV applications. One of those vehicles, the HyBoost, was recently awarded the Prize for the Environment by the Automobile Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. This technical expertise, combined with that of the other members, will aid in establishing a unified voice to policymakers and the public.
