The Sebring 12 Hours is widely acknowledged as a much tougher challenge than the 24 Hours of Le Mans that follows – Ricardo is therefore extremely pleased that its latest generation transmissions were used by four of the top six GT Le Mans class (GTLM) finishers in this weekend’s gruelling race.
Sebring is the second of the three classic races in the premier endurance racing calendar. It follows the season’s curtain raiser, the Daytona 24 hours, and acts as the ultimate preparation for the classic 24 Heures du Mans on 18-19 June. The Sebring International Raceway, located at the site of the former WWII Henricks Army Airfield in south-central Florida, has a well-deserved reputation for its very challenging nature, summed-up succinctly in the industry saying that if a car can last the 12 hours of Sebring, it’s more than Le Mans ready.
Ricardo supplied the majority of the transmissions used for the GTLM class at Sebring, including four of the first six successful finishers. This is ideal preparation for Le Mans, where Ricardo transmissions will be in action across all classes of the world’s premier endurance race.
