It has been announced today that Peter Hughes has joined Ricardo – where he will take charge of development of the key new Energy practice within the company’s highly successful strategic consulting division.
Peter Hughes is an energy industry specialist who has spent thirty years in roles at the most senior levels in both the corporate and advisory sectors, and serving a range of high profile global oil and gas organizations. He joins Ricardo having operated his own independent energy consultancy since leaving Arthur D. Little at the end of 2009, at which time he held a position as a director at the company’s Global Energy & Utilities Practice. Peter Hughes has extensive experience in the energy supply chain, having previously worked as vice president of Strategy & Portfolio for BP Gas, Power & Renewables, before being appointed executive vice president, Group Strategy, at BG Group plc.
With considerable experience in the strategic consulting environment, Peter Hughes earlier spent six years with Cambridge Energy Research Associates; here, he was senior director and head of the company’s ‘PanEurAsia’ Division, leading non-oil research and consulting services activities for all geographic areas outside the Americas. Before this he worked as an independent consultant and advisor on energy policy to the European Commission in Brussels. A British citizen, Peter Hughes is fifty-four years of age and lives in London with his wife and two children.
