Former senior Caterpillar executive joins Ricardo

Paul Ross, a former main board director of Caterpillar (UK) Ltd, has joined Ricardo plc with effect from October 1st in the dual roles of global market sector director for both the commercial vehicle, and agricultural and industrial vehicle teams

Paul Ross is a well-known and highly respected industrial equipment professional, who carried executive board level responsibility for Caterpillar (UK) Ltd throughout nearly a decade. During this time he was involved in a wide range of industrial sectors in which Caterpillar is active in addition to its core markets, including construction, rail, marine, defence equipment and automotive. Before his time with Caterpillar he served as sales and marketing director for R-B International Ltd and previous to that, he held a senior technical sales and marketing positions with Aveling Barford. More recently he has also worked on merger and acquisition activity with various private equity and financial institutions, culminating in the successful acquisition of a business valued at £100M earlier this year.

In addition to his commercial directorships, Paul Ross is also a recent past president of the UK Construction Equipment Association and has also sat on the president’s committee for European construction equipment (CECE). He remains co-chairman of this UK industrial representative body’s International Business Group. In addition to this he holds a board position on United Kingdom Trade & Investment’s advanced engineering sector group and other associated committee activities.
