DARPA, the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, has announced that Ricardo Inc has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to develop component model libraries necessary to simulate a selection of drivetrain and mobility sub-system options for the FANG IFV (Fast, Adaptable, Next-generation Ground vehicle).
In order to exercise the new capabilities it is developing, DARPA intends to have built a vehicle known as FANG, a new heavy and potentially amphibious infantry fighting vehicle. Under the contract awarded to Ricardo Inc, the company will develop a database of component models relative to the drivetrain and mobility sub-systems of such a vehicle. The models will characterize the interactive behaviour and uncertainties of each of the drivetrain and mobility sub-systems of the vehicle. The component model libraries developed will thus provide a series of domain-specific models required to enable design and verification of the FANG vehicle.
