Ricardo nominated for DEI Award at Sustainability Consulting Awards

Ricardo nominated for DEI Award at Sustainability Consulting Awards
26 July 2022

Ricardo’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) has been recognised with a nomination for the Sustainability Delivery Award in the Environment Analyst’s inaugural Sustainability Consulting Awards.

The awards, which are open to environmental and sustainability consulting firms worldwide, plus their clients and partners, recognise and celebrate industry excellence in the sector, and celebrate consultancies which have made significant advances in both their own and their clients’ sustainability journeys.
The nomination of our Inclusion Matters programme, within the Sustainability Delivery Award category, is a recognition that Ricardo has taken significant strides to embed diversity, equity and inclusion in the heart of our employee engagement strategy and the positive impact that these actions have had on our culture.
As part of our programme, we have been encouraging all our people to find their purpose and be an active part of our community, making sure that every voice matters, that we listen to all employees and implement meaningful change as necessary, so everyone feels safe and valued at work. Together, we have created many opportunities to contribute to the DEI agenda: from focus groups, ally networks, forums, opportunities to learn, on-demand training, guest speakers and a calendar of engagement and knowledge-sharing activities. In the past few months, our teams have undertaken knowledge sharing about the origins of National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week and Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) Day, and have led engaging global celebrations around key DEI initiatives including: International Women’s Day, Pride, International Women in Engineering Day and Mental Health Awareness Week.
Additionally, in 2021, we established our corporate global DEI Council chaired by employees, with corporate members and an Executive Committee sponsor, which meets frequently. The Council acts as a governance body for collecting and providing employee feedback and responses to the global initiatives spearheaded by corporate members and discussed at the Council. DEI forums report to the Council and have a line of communication with the Executive Committee.

Tim Curtis, Managing Director for Ricardo’s Energy and Environment business unit said: “We are honoured to have been recognised for our commitment to DEI with this nomination for the Environment Analyst’s Sustainability Consulting Awards. Diversity, equity and inclusion are pivotal to the success of our people plan, underpinning everything we seek to do to enable our employees to feel supported, cared for and enabled for success in their daily working lives and long-term careers with us.”

“We have further aspirations for the future and are committed to being an inclusive and welcoming company, with activities that reach into the wider community. We recognise that the sectors in which we operate have been traditionally dominated by people of a similar demographic similar age, race, and gender. We are committed to an ambitious plan to build networks and improve representation because we know that diverse teams benefit everyone: our people, our customers and the global communities we have the honour to serve.”
The award winners will be announced live during the Awards Ceremony on the eve of Environment Analyst’s Global Business Summit on 23 August at the Grand Hyatt Denver, Colorado in the US.
