An Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) is responsible for ensuring rolling stock is safe to operate by following documented maintenance and quality processes.

Hans Kuijpers is a Senior Techical Consultant based in Ricardo's Utrecht office. His prime focus is on the set up and improvement of Management Systems for railway operators and asset maintainers, mainly with regard to safety management and workshop certification.

In the field of safety management Hans performs advisory, coaching, safety management or compliance management for mainline ral, metro and tram systems for an international clients. He also conducts audits and accident investigations.
