Amber's Story
What is your role at Ricardo?
I am a senior consultant at Ricardo, focusing on heat decarbonisation and carbon capture and storage (CCS), supporting both private and public sector clients on the journey towards decarbonisation.
What does your average day at Ricardo look like?
No two days in Ricardo are the same, as I work on a range of interesting projects at once. My time is spent liaising with clients, supporting junior members of the team, conducting research, reviewing data, writing reports and bids, and presenting at workshops and webinars. I work with a great team of people who I communicate with as we work collaboratively to represent the values of Ricardo.
What do you look forward to at work?
At work, I look forward to making a difference and supporting clients towards decarbonisation. I also look forward to communicating with my team and brainstorming solutions to clients’ complex problems.
What do you find most rewarding at work? / Are you proud to work at Ricardo?
I resonate with Ricardo’s mission and values, to create a safe and sustainable world. I am proud to work at Ricardo, bringing people together to create a positive difference.
How have you developed your career at Ricardo?
I joined Ricardo as an analyst consultant and have developed my knowledge and skills in order to progress to senior consultant. Ricardo supported me through providing great opportunities to work on a variety of different projects on different topics, where I gained a range of both hard and soft skills. I have also had the opportunity to attend training courses and Ricardo is also supporting me towards chartership and providing a mentor to support this journey.
How do you support career development opportunities for your team?
My team have set objectives, which we review on a regular basis to ensure that objectives are being worked towards. I have supported my team through providing guidance on project management and opportunities to develop content for webinars and workshops, as well as being directly involved in client engagement.
What do you most enjoy about working with your team?
I enjoy hearing different views and insights and working together towards a common goal. I have truly met some great people from a range of different backgrounds and it has been great to hear different perspectives.
