Mark Broomfield

Mark is an air quality, odour and health impacts specialist with over 30 years’ experience providing technical, strategic and research support to industry and regulatory bodies. He has a long record of providing support to the UK Government, European Commission, regulatory authorities and other agencies. He is responsible for complex and challenging aspects of the UK's National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory and Greenhouse gas inventory, and has led research into emerging issues including nanomaterials, regulation of onshore oil and gas, habitats regulations assessments, and the environmental effects of Net Zero technologies. He is an experienced expert witness, and is retained as an air quality expert by Asian Development Bank. He is the author of popular science book "Every breath you take: a user's guide to the atmosphere," published in 2019.
