Industrial Incident Management - Trainer (Private Sector)

The Chemical and Response Training team was created in 2019 and has gone on to support some of the best-known public and private sector organisations around the globe in the development of their incident management capabilities; the identification of personnel with the right qualities and attributes to make up a response team; as well as high-quality scenario-based training, exercising and assessments. In addition to this, the team have supported in the development of policies and procedures to help ensure they have robust, high quality, safe and effective incident management teams who can deal with incidents when they occur, and / or work alongside the emergency services to bring an incident to a successful conclusion with minimal disruption to the organisation whilst limiting reputational damage.    Due to the strong growth in this area, specifically private sector response team training,, we are now looking to expand our team.

The purpose of the role will be to lead on the delivery of our private sector work, with a key focus being on supporting organisations with incident management at operational, tactical, and strategic levels... We are looking for a candidate who can make a strong contribution to the success of the team, enabling us to continue to exceed our customers’ expectations whilst building strong, longstanding and meaningful relationships with clients.

This role would be suited to a candidate who is experienced in dealing with and managing incidents, and who therefore has an ability to share real-world anecdotes during the support they deliver. The role will include the delivery of technical training and consultancy to organisations around the globe, which means you may be required to deliver high quality support to very large, diverse, groups of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support organisations in identifying their incident management development needs across their operational, tactical, and strategic response.
  • To support and / or lead gap analysis and policy development consultancy projects being delivered, by both internal and associate teams, on behalf of clients.
  • To design and deliver high quality, realistic training in an engaging manner both within and outside of the UK.
  • To support CRT growth and technical leads in the development of this offering.
  • Working closely with new organisations, existing customers, and partners to further develop relationships.
  • Provide input to the plans to support the growth of the area.
  • Use own existing network, or develop a network of key contacts, to uncover new market requirements and develop courses to deliver based on the market need.

Essential Competencies and Experience

  • Experience of working as part of an incident response management team including responding to and managing incidents.
  • Proven track record of managing a range of incidents effectively and being able to share post incident information to improve safety, processes etc.
  • Highly organised team player with strong relationship management skills.
  • Experience of training and mentoring other members of the team.
  • Proven track record of creation and delivery of training packages / programmes.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritising own work and delivering to deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience of communicating complex information to a range of internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work closely with stakeholders to identify exact requirements for a high-quality incident management framework, policies, and teams.

Desirable 

  • Experience of working with a range of organisations, coupled with a commercial understanding.
  • Experience of working with the emergency services, or similar, as a responder and/or in a training delivery capacity.
  • Teaching qualification such as Award in Education and Teaching or equivalent.
  • Qualification in assessing in the workplace.
  • Academic qualification in emergency/incident response or similar field.
