IT Project Manager

Salary: £40,000 to £55,000

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have a robust background in an SME setting, where they have honed their skills delivering projects across a broad spectrum of technologies working with colleagues from across IT,  developers, infrastructure,  service delivery and security specialists.  You may have held a technical role in the past and understand how IT is delivered for the benefit of the business.

You appreciate the interplay between technical teams and how to get the most out of them to deliver your projects some maybe waterfall and other follow agile principles. You can hold the IT team and business teams to account for their respective deliverables.

The role demands a versatile individual who can juggle various duties, seamlessly transition between different projects and  work collaboratively with the teams and individuals involved.

Structure and reporting relationship

As you will be working across the department you will have dotted-line relationships with the Head of CoE, with a formal reporting line to the CIO.

Key Accountabilities

  • Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to understand and validate requirements.
  • Create detailed project documentation as needed, inc PID, project plan inc commensurate with the size and complexity of the project.
  • Allocate resources effectively and ensure team members and CoEs are clear of their delivery responsibilities.
  • Develop and manage the project budget, understand costs incurred and costs to complete
  • Maintain clear communication channels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards in line with solution designs and control environment.
  • Monitor project progress and coordinate schedule as needed for successful delivery.
  • Manage changes, Evaluate impact and adjust plans.
  • Coordinate external vendors or suppliers.
  • Manage vendor performance.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Support and prepare material for regular project reviews.
  • Maintain the portfolio of projects you are working on.
  • Actively promoting Project Management skills internally and externally.
  • Depending on the project worked on, the role will involve some domestic and international travel.

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications

  • Demonstrable project leadership in delivering a range and variety of complex technical /projects using structured programme methodologies covering technical, financial, and quality aspects including customer-facing delivery.
  • Demonstrable Experience in Project Management areas such as planning, scheduling, project controls, infrastructure, new product introduction, infrastructure delivery, M&A, and product development. Experience of working in a project team or cross / multi-disciplined and multi-location delivery teams is essential.
  • A degree or equivalent experience in Project Management, Business, Management, Economics or STEM-related subject.
  • A project management professional qualification or professional standard (ChPP, MAMP, APM PMQ or equivalents) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • An open-minded, curious, collaborative, and creative approach to problem-solving, and a desire to learn, develop and apply new perspectives to your work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and to maintain an awareness of developing technologies and their application and takes some responsibility for driving own development.
  • Full Driving Licences and ability to travel international.

Desirable technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification

  • Good understanding of the functioning of an SME-sized IT organisation.
  • Good understanding of the Microsoft technologies MS Office, Teams Sharepoint.
  • Good understanding of End-user computing, Service Delivery, and ITIL.
  • Experience of core infrastructure environments, servers, storage systems, and networking equipment routers, switches, data Centers, security inc Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials+
  • Exposure to ISO27001 and TISAX or other standards.
  • Experience of DR / BCP methodologies and approaches.
