The Role
Ricardo is seeking a dynamic Lead Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) - Rail Certification to provide technical and project leadership in independent safety assurance. This key role involves acting as a primary contact for customers and clients, while also mentoring and developing junior staff to promote growth within our organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver multiple complex projects within Ricardo's global portfolio, ensuring timely, quality-focused outcomes within budget.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, managing escalation needs, and fostering strong, ongoing relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to proposals, bids, and submissions, ensuring alignment with client needs and commercial goals.
- Guide junior staff in delivering accurate technical analysis, assessments, and reports within project timelines and budget constraints.
- Provide technical oversight for multiple projects, reviewing and approving work completed by junior or less experienced consultants.
- Work with Business Development and Growth teams to pursue new business, draft proposals, lead negotiations, and apply commercial insight.
- Expand your knowledge and apply industry best practices to develop solutions for technically complex issues.
- Promote a collaborative environment across global teams, sharing best practices and fostering inclusivity.
- Support business needs through roles such as Team Leader, Signatory, Local Site Leader, or Capability Lead.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
- In-depth technical knowledge and experience in rail signaling and safety.
- Proven experience leading and delivering complex projects, with a record of coaching and mentoring others.
- Strong client relationship management skills, with an ability to identify new opportunities through excellent service and delivery.

- Chartered status or membership in a recognised professional institution.
