Air Quality Commercial Project Manager - Middle East

To oversee and lead the commercial delivery of projects for Ricardo’s Air Quality business in the Middle East. This role involves senior client relationship management, risk assessment, and commercial oversight to ensure projects meet required standards, are delivered on time, and achieve targeted financial outcomes.
Strengthening our working relationships with key clients and collaborating with delivery partners, technical teams and stakeholders whilst ensuring that all activities are undertaken responsibly, operate safely, ethically and in line with all statutory and corporate requirements. Reports to Global Air Business Director or Regional/Technical Director. Primarily working with the Air Quality team, while simultaneously supporting the wider Air, Land & Water Practice as a key member of Ricardo’s Middle East team.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Operations and Financial Performance
- Provide end-to-end commercial oversight on regional projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Implement and monitor risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with project and technical leaders, ensuring all potential project risks are identified, evaluated, and addressed proactively.
- Ensure financial objectives are achieved for each project by maintaining strict oversight of budgets, timelines, and deliverable quality.
- Responsible for strategic Project Management, focused on client management and commercial risk assessment working with technical leaders and Project Directors.
- Ensure that all project activities and outputs meet or exceed both Ricardo’s and the client’s quality standards - and that any activities and processes that are defined meet all EHS and ESG requirements.
Client Management for Project Success
- Engage with clients to ensure project expectations are met, resolving any significant issues proactively to maintain Ricardo’s reputation for project excellence in the region.
- Proactively identifies and addresses potential project challenges, implementing solutions that ensure projects stay on track and meet all quality and budgetary requirements
- Provision of senior client liaison and identifying opportunities to expand the business / follow-on opportunities from key clients, positively expanding partnerships and alliances to increase market footprint.
Resourcing & Wider Leadership
- Support strong collaboration with project managers & Directors and business managers to ensure required resourcing for successful project delivery.
- Build regional expertise and understanding of market trends, regulatory landscapes, and competitor strategies to identify key opportunities for growth and strategic partnerships.
Please note, regular International and domestic travel will be required.
Key Competencies and Experience
It is expected that the successful candidate will be degree educated with at least 10+ years of experience. They will bring the energy and capability to drive significant performance and growth, with the following background experiences:
- Have experience of working in the environmental consultancy sector.
- Demonstrate technical exposure across one or more of the following areas or related disciplines:
- Air Quality Measurement
- Air Quality Modelling and Forecasting
- Emissions Inventories
- Environmental Policy & Climate Change
- Energy & Carbon Regulation
- Demonstrated ability to oversee complex projects, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, client requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Extensive experience in commercial project delivery within the Middle East, with strong competencies in financial oversight, budgeting and the proactive management of project risks, challenges or problems.
- Strong experience and deep understanding of business performance reporting and analysing financial/operational data to make decisions and continuous improvements
Desirable Competencies and Experience
- Experience with Oil and Gas and/or other Industrial emitters would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Arabic language skills are highly desirable.
- Experience of working in a complex / matrix global organization.
- Ability to relocate to any GCC country where Ricardo operates
- Familiarity with leveraging digital and technical solutions to enhance service offerings.
