Health & Safety Manager
Salary: £52,000 - £56,000
Ricardo’s Performance Products division are seeking a Health and Safety Manager who will be responsible for the management of all health and safety systems associated with a manufacturing and assembly environment at all the Ricardo Performance products, including The Midlands Technical Centre, Shoreham Technical Centre and, from July 2025, the Detroit Technical Centre, to ensure all colleagues work in safe conditions.
Key accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and that our management system and quality policies are efficient and effective.
- Undertake internal audits and, with the Site Operations Directors, ensure actions are closed out in a satisfactory manner and timescales.
- Co-ordinate (and lead where appropriate) the investigation and escalation of H&S reported incidents.
- Identify local H&S training needs, including for the RPP Board and BLT and undertake risk assessments.
- Assist and provide advice regarding the development, maintenance, review, production and implementation of risk assessments, safe systems of work and provision and use of appropriate protective equipment as well as facilitating development training.
- Organise RPP H&S meetings at each site, which should be chaired by the relevant Site Operations Director.
- Report to the RPP Board, at its monthly meeting, on Health & safety matters, progress, and concerns.
- Participate in Ricardo Group HSEQ meetings as required and ensure best practice is shared with the Ricardo PLC Business Partner.
- Collaborate with RPLC Business Partner with respect to Group Reporting Audits.
Technical skills, experience, and knowledge
- Fellow Member of IOSH
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma
- Relevant PUWA certificate
- Experience of Integrated Systems and ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO9001
- Prior work experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Proven communication skills with the ability to influence others
- Good IT skills
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple demands within a matrix-managed business
- Ability to conduct internal audits and provide support to external auditors
- Internal Auditor trained
- Knowledge and experience of confined-space working, working at height, CDM and COSHH
Desirable
- Prior work experience within a Quality environment · OSHA Certificate and/ or knowledge of U.S. manufacturing operations
