Contractor - Senior Energy Systems Consultant

The team
The Sustainable Energy Systems team comprises a group of highly experienced professionals specialising in engineering techno-economic, and management consultancy services for the energy sector, with particular emphasis on the energy sector. We cover both power consultancy (renewable generation, network technologies, EVs and smart grids) and future fuels consultancy (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, SAFs). Across both technical areas our activity splits into:
1. Strategy: Portfolio assessment, technology screening, corporate strategy, policy & regulation
2. Consultancy: From pre-feasibility to concept engineering and technical due diligence, through technology innovation trials
3. Owner's Engineering: Oversight of construction and operation of power/fuel assets on behalf of the project owner
The Role
As our workload grows, we are seeking experienced Associate/Contractor Energy Consultants to join our team on a contract / ad-hoc basis, providing support across our projects and workstreams.
A subject matter expert with experience in one or more of the following topics (please indicate which specific technical skills your application meets in your cover letter - e.g. A1, B3).
In their cover letter candidates must demonstrate experience in at least one topic (but not necessarily any more than one).
Technical skills
A - Clean Power experts
1. Power sector economic (e.g. ratemaking) and/or technical (e.g. licensing, grid code) regulation for utilities or regulators.
2. Strategy consulting: portfolio assessment, technology screening, corporate strategy for RE/BESS developers, economic/financial modelling.
3. Pre-feasibility, Value Engineering, Site optimisation for RE/BESS projects.
4. Concept design for RE/BESS projects.
5. Fuel feasibility studies, technical due diligence for RE/BESS projects.
6. Owner's engineering for RE/BESS projects.
7. Design and execution of innovation trials for network technologies (e.g. smart grids)
8. Power Systems Modelling (PSCAD, DigSilent, IPSA)
9. Transmission system operations.
B - Fuels experts
1. Economic and/or technical, safety regulation for fuels.
2. Strategy consulting: portfolio assessment, technology screening, corporate strategy for hydrogen and other fuel technology developers, economic/financial modelling.
3. Pre-feasibility, Value Engineering, Site optimisation for hydrogen and other fuel technology projects.
4. Concept design for hydrogen and other fuel technology projects.
5. Fuel feasibility studies, technical due diligence for hydrogen and other fuel technology projects.
6. Owner's engineering for hydrogen and other fuel technology projects.
7. Hydrogen storage and transportation.
Consultancy skills
In addition, all candidates should demonstrate ALL of the consultancy skills listed below:
- Substantial professional experience.
- Senior role in Engineering Consultancy or EPC.
- Proficiency with excel modelling.
- Customer facing experience.
- Excellent English report writing skills.
