With over 100 years of engineering excellence and employing close to 3,000 employees in more than 20 countries, we provide exceptional levels of expertise in delivering leading-edge and innovative cross-sector sustainable products and solutions. Every day, we enable our customers to solve the most complex and dynamic challenges to help achieve a safe and sustainable world.
Are you passionate about tackling climate change through rigorous economic analysis and innovative solutions? Do you want to influence policies that drive the low-carbon transition and promote sustainable growth? Do you want to contribute cutting-edge insights to leading international organizations, governments, and the IPCC? Join our Digital Modelling Practice, where your expertise will shape global and regional strategies.
About Us
Our Digital Modelling Practice is a cornerstone of our Climate, Energy & Environmental Services (CE&ES) division, delivering complex quantitative modeling and impactful economic insights across Europe and the world. We are a team of world-class researchers and modellers dedicated to addressing the most pressing economic and environmental challenges of our time. At the heart of our work lies the GEM-E3 model—a sophisticated Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model used by global institutions such as the OECD, World Bank, European Commission, and others to assess the economic impacts of climate and energy policies and the cost of climate change. Our contributions are featured in IPCC reports, published in top-tier scientific journals, and frequently peer-reviewed at the highest level. At the same time, we provide high-end evidence-based support to national and international organizations.
The Role
As we expand our Economic Analysis team, we are looking for a Senior Researcher/Consultant to deliver world-class research and develop innovative solutions that address climate challenges and support a just, low-carbon transition.
As a Senior Researcher/Consultant, you will lead high-impact research and consultancy projects focused on climate and energy policy assessment and transition and physical climate risk analysis, combining advanced economic analysis with strategic insights. This is an exciting opportunity to shape policy decisions, engage with stakeholders at the highest levels, and deliver evidence-based solutions to address climate change and energy transitions.
Your work will help governments, organizations, and international bodies navigate the challenges of sustainable economic growth and a carbon-neutral future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Complex Projects: Manage multidisciplinary consultancy and research projects for clients such as the European Commission, OECD, national governments, and private sector stakeholders.
- Policy & Economic Analysis: Conduct rigorous evaluations of climate and energy policies, focusing on low-carbon transition pathways, just transition considerations, and socioeconomic impacts.
- Model Development: Enhance and apply the GEM-E3 model and other economic analysis tools to assess the economic effects of climate low-carbon transitions, physical climate risks, and external shocks.
- Insights & Communication: Prepare high-quality reports and presentations that simplify complex economic analyses for expert and non-expert audiences.
- Quantitative Analysis: Leverage economic models to assess the impacts of climate and energy policies on growth, employment, and sustainability.
- Innovation & Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based insights on sustainable growth, energy systems, and climate resilience.
- Proposal Development: Write compelling proposals to secure funding for impactful research and consultancy projects.
- Mentorship: Support and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Engagement & Dissemination: Share results through workshops, seminars, conferences, and client meetings, ensuring your work influences key decision-makers.
Who We’re Looking For
- Advanced Degree (Master’s/PhD preferred): in Economics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Proven Expertise: Experience in climate and energy policy assessment, economic analysis, or sustainable energy transitions.
- Project Leadership: Track record of managing and delivering complex projects to a high standard.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to perform both quantitative and qualitative economic analyses.
- Excellent Communication: Clear, persuasive written and verbal skills to present findings effectively to diverse audiences.
- Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with international frameworks (e.g., Paris Agreement) and regional energy policies is a plus.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for economic data analysis.
- Programming skills in GAMS, Python, or R (or a willingness to develop them further) is a plus.
