Senior Energy System and Integrated Assessment Modeller

Example Projects
• Assessing national and international climate policies.
• Model-based analysis of low-carbon transition strategies and pathways.
• Evaluating the impacts and feasibility of deep decarbonisation across major sectors (transport, electricity, industry, land use).
• Analysing the interactions between trade, climate, and industrial policies in the EU and beyond.
• Providing policy recommendations to governments on implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and achieving low-emission targets.

This role offers opportunities for professional development, collaboration with an expert team, and contributions to shaping global climate and energy policies.

Key Responsibilities
• Collect, structure, maintain, and analyse large datasets relevant to energy, economy, and transport.
• Review and synthesise scientific, technical, and market reports to inform quantitative assessments.
• Develop and apply energy system modelling tools using GAMS, R, and/or Python.
• Conduct model-based assessments to support EU-funded research projects, national and international climate policies, and IPCC processes.
• Collaborate with senior researchers and consultants to deliver high-quality research and advisory projects.
• Effectively manage time across multiple projects, focusing on the planning, development, and application of global Integrated Assessment Models.

Key Competencies and Experience
• MSc or higher in Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience in energy systems modelling, climate policy impact assessment, or a relevant field.
• Proven programming skills in GAMS and/or Python/R.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
