Junior Engineer - Vehicle Thermal Integration

The Role 

An opportunity exists for a Junior Engineer to support the delivery systems integration and attribute activities working on a large variety of on-going client projects in the automotive, off-highway, marine and aerospace sector, ranging from;

  • Fuel cell, hybrid and battery electric systems concept design.
  • Novel thermal systems concept and development testing. 
  • Through to complete production power-train & thermal systems integration programmes. 

 

The Junior Engineer - Vehicle Thermal Integration will support the principal engineer in the delivery of tasks as part of the overall thermal integration strategy. Typical tasks are; 

  • Conduct basic thermal calculations to support component sizing.
  • Develop system & component specifications. 
  • Develop thermal system layout and boundary diagrams. 
  • System level cost & mass tracking. 
  • Supplier liaison & management.
  • System build support. 
  • Develop thermal instrumentation plans.
  • Process and analyse system & vehicle level test data.
  • Develop system and vehicle/application level thermal test procedures. 

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role on each project will vary depending upon the needs but typical responsibilities are: 

  • Writing of specification and report documents to company standards.
  • Compiling spreadsheets & databases to track components details, targets or thermal calculations.
  • Self checking of calculations.
  • Managing documents and computer files to company standards.
  • Managing tasks to meet project deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant will have a sound engineering background with some experience of successfully delivering thermal projects either at university or in business. 

 

Essential 

  • Minimum of 2:1 degree in an Engineering or relevant Science-based discipline with technical background in vehicle systems design and development. 
  • Experience in a Thermal Systems and/or Thermal Attribute role developing complex thermal systems or propulsion systems 
  • Basic knowledge of heat transfer and thermal systems. 
  • Basic knowledge of thermal analysis tools and instrumentation. 
  • Experienced in developing design validation plans (DVP’s) and associated test documentation. 
  • Methodical approach to issue investigation and resolution.
  • Literate in IT systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power-Point) 

 

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of automotive, marine and/or aerospace applications.
  • Knowledge of control systems.
  • Experience in managing project budgets, resource and delivery.
  • Understanding of commercial business factors.

  • Robust character with strong self-drive and motivation. 
  • Organised and rigorous with personal target of high quality delivery. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage own workload to ensure program milestones are met on-time. 
  • Prepared to travel within the Czech Republic as well as internationally on short assignments. 
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken) for project and technical communication.
