REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals and is implemented by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). It entered into force on 1 June 2007 and is a regulation of the European Union.

UK REACH came into force on 1 January 2021 following the end of the Brexit transition period. It is a replication of EU REACH with the core of UK REACH remaining the same: requiring the registration of substances manufactured or imported at greater than one tonne per year and is applicable only to products Great Britain (GB), meaning some changes have been made to make it suitable for the GB market.
