Presentations

Approaches and Experiences in Financing Mechanisms & Biochar Project Development

Wednesday 05 February, 10:00 - 13:00

BIOCHAR room

Josh Dalby, Global Head of Research & Development for Ricardo will discuss the challenges experienced when developing projects and how they find solutions.

Defossilisation of Industry

Wednesday 05 February, 15:00 - 16:20

BIOMASS room

Panelists explore the advantages, opportunities and constraints industrial heat off-takers may face in adopting BIOCCUS, and why such a pathway presents very real opportunities for certain sectors. Exploring the challenges and benefits in using BIOCCUS to decarbonise the construction sector, Josh Dalby, Global Head of Research & Development, represents Ricardo.

BECCS - BIOCCUS: Greenhouse Gas Removal Through Pyrolysis of Waste Biomass and Carbon Capture

Thursday 06 February, 10:00 - 11:00

BioHorizons room

Speaking on behalf of Ricardo, Josh Dalby, Global Head of Research & Development, will showcase the recent project to design, build and test a carbon-negative combined heat and power demonstrator plant, known as BIOCCUS.

Developed with partners Bluebox Energy and Woodtek Engineering, the plant is powered by waste biomass and produces clean electricity, heat, food-grade CO₂, and biochar, capturing up to 90% of carbon emissions through the processes. Supported by the UK’s NZIP, this technology offers a commercially viable path to net zero.

Introducing BIOCCUS

Companies must balance the urgent need for sustainable transformation with the rising costs of operation. Capable of capturing up to 95% of carbon emissions, BIOCCUS presents a very real solution to decarbonising that is sustainable and economically viable.
