Ricardo presents at CORE Connect event in Adelaide
24 Jul 2024
Core Innovation Hub and South Australian Hydrogen Hubs Inc (SA-H2H™) hosted a 'Core Connect' event in Adelaide (July 23) to explore new and exciting opportunities surrounding the growth of the hydrogen industry in South Australia.
This event brought together suppliers, researchers, entrepreneurs and industry members, and facilitated connection and collaboration on innovative solutions across the hydrogen energy sector.
Jorge Martin Gistau, Ricardo plc’s Manager for Sustainable Transport Australia & New Zealand, explored some of the big themes in hydrogen as part of a panel session facilitated by SA-H2H™ Chairman Graham Dooley.
Jorge outlined the hydrogen study that Ricardo is currently undertaking in collaboration with SA-H2H™. As part of this project, the team is carrying out a feasibility study into hydrogen technology retrofitting as a decarbonisation pathway for heavy duty vehicles in South Australia.
South Australia is currently a leading player in the emerging sustainable hydrogen industry, with the South Australian Government funding one of the largest green hydrogen electrolysers in the world and establishing a precinct at Whyalla, located close to some of the state’s prime solar and wind assets for industrial-scale green hydrogen production.

Jorge said: “SA-H2H™ is fostering a very unique collaboration space where South Australian businesses, government agencies and research organisations are willing to work together towards the development of a hydrogen ecosystem. It is a privilege to lead this nationally-important project that brings together key players in the net zero emissions sector”.
The panel also explored upstream and downstream supply chain constraints, generation challenges, South Australia’s unique market advantage, workforce requirements, funding and technology advances, with questions from Graham and the audience triggering lively conversation throughout the night.
The panel session was bookended with time for networking and connection via conversations, leaving the audience excited and positive about the future of clean energy and decarbonisation in Australia.
