07 Oct 2024

Ricardo, a global strategic, environmental, and engineering consulting company congratulates McLaren on the launch of the new W1 supercar, the successor to the F1 and the McLaren P1 models.

The new model, which features a new high-performance V8 hybrid engine supplied by Ricardo, launched on Sunday 6 October was revealed on the 50th anniversary of McLaren’s first win in the Formula 1 Constructor’s World Championship.

Since the introduction of McLaren’s first series production supercar, the 12C in 2011, Ricardo has produced over 38,000 McLaren powertrains at its purpose-built assembly facility at Shoreham-by-Sea in the UK, before delivering them to the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, in the UK, where McLaren designs and hand builds its supercars.

Ricardo and McLaren recently hosted their annual supplier conference at Shoreham Technical Centre which brought together over 27 different suppliers who are contributing to the McLaren W1 engine programme to celebrate this success ahead of the reveal.

Jason March, Director of the McLaren Engine Programmes at Ricardo, said, “We are delighted to be able to congratulate McLaren on the reveal of the W1 supercar. Ricardo has a proven track record of delivering excellence in our supply programmes, enabling high performance technology and the highest standards of product quality supported by the upstream supply chain, and we are proud of the contribution we make to this programme.”
