Ricardo to attend SMM Hamburg to display multi-stack fuel cell containerised solution

Ricardo will display its innovative multi-stack fuel cell containerised solution at the upcoming SMM Hamburg, the world’s leading trade fair for the maritime industry.  

The module has been designed and developed by Ricardo as part of its involvement in the sHYps programme and has been co-funded by the European Union and Innovate UK. It will be on show at EKPO Fuel Cell Technologies stand. EKPO are Ricardo’s fuel cell partners for the module.  

In addition to the module, several Ricardo experts will be featuring at the trade show and conference: 

  • Tim Scarbrough, Ricardo’s Director of Maritime Growth and Development will be presenting on Ricardo’s joint work with DNV in support of the cruise ship industry – both ocean and river – with a European Investment Plan. The Plan aims to make it easier for the cruise industry to apply for funding for decarbonising its operations by shortlisting fuel types for is decarbonisation journey. In addition, Tim’s presentation will provide further details about Ricardo’s support to the European Commission developing the Ship Financing Portal that went live in July.
  • Richard Gordon Ricardo’s Project Director, Fuel Cell will also be presenting at the event, providing an overview of the marine fuel cell module design, covering the system specification, engineering approach, module control, how it is safe and introducing the build and test progress. 

The trade show and conference are expected to bring together 40,000 participants over the three-day event, with businesses, organisations and individuals from over 120 countries represented. It aims to act a platform for businesses and maritime executives and innovators to share idea and engage in greater cooperation.
