Ricardo celebrates hat-trick of nominations at British Engineering Excellence Awards

MA Business, publisher of New Electronics and Eureka magazines, has announced the shortlist for this year’s British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs), with Ricardo shortlisted for design team, mechanical product, and consultancy of the year.

All three nominations are for the work of Ricardo’s Performance Products division, with those for the design team and mechanical product of the year awards both relating to the design and manufacture of the high performance transmissions used in the all-electric Formula E series. This reflects the extensive experience of Ricardo in the field of electric motorsport, where the company has made significant investments in its performance manufacturing facilities in terms of both capacity and capabilities.

The nomination for consultancy of the year relates in particular to the launch of the company’s industrialisation consultancy service. This new to market offer has already delivered significant value to key clients on active projects and is a way to offer new product introduction support tailored to the unique demands of the niche volume sector. The industrialisation consultancy team consists of highly skilled engineers with experience and capability in transitioning a product from the drawing board to physical, quality controlled, stable, niche-level production. Key aspects of the service include operational requirements planning and establishment of novel production methodologies, virtual engineering and design for assembly, supply chain management, quality assurance and launch planning.
