Ricardo produced a reporting outlining the growing potential for using hydrogen as a lower carbon source of heat for distilleries and high temperature industrial processes. 

Ricardo has worked to repower a double decker bus with hydrogen fuel cells to support a zero-emission demonstration on Teesside. The project, in partnership with Stagecoach North East, created a hydrogen fuelled, zero tailpipe concept bus, to support exploration into the feasibility of the production of fleet passenger vehicles for future, sustainable shared mobility. 

HydroFLEX was the first hydrogen-powered train to operate on the UK's network.

Ricardo helps FlyZero identify renewable liquid hydrogen internal combustion engine as a potential propulsion system of the future.

Ricardo supported a California Fuel Cell Partnership in the assessment of H₂ trucks and fuelling stations.

Ricardo supported the decarbonisation of the heat, power and transport for the modern energy partners (MEP) programme, a systemic approach to developing local low carbon energy systems within the public sector.

Working alongside our team of energy and heat experts, Nc’nean, a small, independent, organic distillery on the west coast of Scotland, became the UK’s first whisky distillery to reach net zero emissions for scopes 1 and 2.
